W. Harrison Schroeder
Attorney at Law
Mr. Schroeder’s practice includes real estate, estate planning, estate and trust administration, business law, and uncontested divorces.
Mr. Schroeder was raised in Northern Virginia, son of Brigadier General and Mrs. Henry J. Schroeder, Jr. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, majored in History at Washington & Lee University, and attended law school at the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he graduated in the top 5% of his law school class. In law school, he served as an editor on both of the school’s legal journals, served as a member of the school’s Moot Court Board, received the Tennessee Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy, and was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Coif legal honorary society.
Following law school, he gained valuable experience as a judicial law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Samuel G. Wilson in Roanoke and through the handling of automobile warranty litigation while associated with the law firm of McGuireWoods in Richmond. In 2002, Mr. Schroeder formed the law offices of W. Harrison Schroeder, P.C., in Tappahannock, Virginia, practicing law in his late grandfather’s former law office. In 2005, Mr. Schroeder relocated his practice to Floyd, and, in 2007, Mr. Schroeder and Dale Profitt merged their firms to form Profitt & Schroeder, Attorneys, P.C. In 2015, Mr. Profitt retired from the firm, and the firm was renamed The Schroeder Law Firm, P.C.
He is a Virginia Certified Title Examiner, a Commissioner in Chancery for the 27th Judicial Circuit of Virginia, a past President of the Floyd Lions Club, and a Past Master of the Floyd Masonic Lodge. He is also a member of several historical and hereditary societies including the Jamestowne Society, Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia, and Society of the Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence (he is a descendant of the signer Benjamin Harrison V). He served as Governor of the Jamestowne Society during the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown in 2007 and greeted Queen Elizabeth during her visit to Jamestown Island.
Alice H. Hollandsworth
Paralegal
Alice is the firm’s point of contact for coordinating real estate transactions and is also a licensed title insurance underwriter. Alice is a native of Floyd County and has 30+ years of experience in the legal field. She is a 1980 graduate of Floyd County High School and has a degree in Records Management from New River Community College. Alice began her career in 1982 working for the Bank of Floyd in a variety of roles. In January 1989, she joined the law firm Profitt & Williams, which is now known as The Schroeder Law Firm. She is Secretary/Treasurer of Tuggles Gap Baptist Church and Treasurer of the Slusher Family Organization.
Renate Chancellor
Paralegal
Renate (pronounced Ren-not-tay) provides paralegal support for all areas of the firm’s practice. She is also a licensed title insurance underwriter. Renate is a native of Austria and is fluent in German and English. She is an honors graduate of Missouri University with a Bachelor of Science in International Business and a minor in Spanish. She has held a variety of positions in business management before becoming a paralegal and title insurance underwriter. She lives in Willis with her husband Craig who is a local real estate agent/broker with RE/MAX Dominion.
Marie Conner
Paralegal
Marie provides paralegal support for all areas of the firm’s practice. She is also a licensed title insurance underwriter. Marie is a native of Toulon, France, and is fluent in French and English. She is an honors graduate of Aix-Marseille University, Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, with a Master of Science in Chemistry and a minor in Marketing/Sales. Marie moved to the United States in 2007 and has held positions in specialty retail management and marketing before becoming a paralegal and title insurance underwriter.
